Q&A with Shreya Jindal

Hey guys! It’s Noel! Today I’m doing a post with Shreya Jindal! Be sure to go check out her blog! Hopefully as you’re reading our questions you feel like you’re eavesdropping on our conversation! Or maybe even part of it!

1. What are your resolutions regarding your wordpress blog?

Shreya: The resolutions for my blog are to reach out 500+ followers, read more and discover new blogs and write posts which people can relate to their daily chores.
Noel: I’d love to get my own domain name someday, and I’d also like to someday put ads on my blog in order to start making my hobby a job, but overall I think that I just want to be a real blogger, not artificial.

2. Have you ever received a recognition award in co-curricular activities?

Shreya: Yes I have many awards in my basket. I am a state level baseball player for which I got the team trophy being the leader.
I have won a trophy and a cash prize of 30000Rs at first place in painting contest held in ‘Kalabharti art club, Maharashtra’.
I am also a throw ball player at district level.
Noel: I’m a competitive swimmer and once I received the award for the most supportive teammate! It made me so happy inside to see that people were encouraged by me.

3. Which are your favorite books?

Shreya: some of my favourite books are ‘And then there were none’, ‘Peril at the end house’, ‘An owl mystery’ and are all  by ‘Agatha Christie’and ‘Revolution 2020’ and ‘Half girlfriend’ by ‘Chetan Bhagat’ as latest read.
Noel: How can I choose? All books are wonderful! If I have to answer I’d say some of my favorite series are the Little House series by Laura Ingalls Wilder, The Hunger Games by Susan Collins, Divergent by Veronica Roth, The Giver by Lois Lowry, The City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau, and the Maze Runner by James Dashner. Some of my favorite stand-along books are The Candymakers by Wendy Mass, The Fault in our Stars by John Green, and The Geography of You and Me by Jennifer E. Smith.

4. Tell us something about your birthplace and yourself.

Shreya: I was born in Punjab, India. As a local language I know punjabi and of couse english but I do know 6 other languages also( Spanish, Tamil, Hindi, Urdu, German, Maltese and French).
Noel: I was born in Montgomery, Alabama, but I don’t really remember it because we moved about a year after I was born. A fun fact about myself is that I’ve never lived one place for more than one year. I’ve lived all over the United States!

5. How many blog views, blog followers, and blog likes do you have presently?

Shreya: I started my blog on 29 february, 2016 (as it comes after every four years and to make it a special one) and now my total blog views are 5,760, blog followers are 78 and blog likes are 490.
Noel: I have 111 followers! I have a special post planned soon to celebrate so be sure to stay tuned! I have so many amazing followers and I can’t wait to reach more people! Last year (I started my blog last November) I had 259 visitors, 956 views, and 283 likes!

 6. What do you typically do when you hang out with your friends?

Shreya: Hmm! This is the question I am very happy to answer. When I and my friends hang out we lock up ourselves in a room and puta tag on the door ‘NO ENTRY’. In the background songs are played with a bowl full of popcorns in the centre, coffee mugs and some chocolates with lots of gossiping.
Noel: Me and my friends typically sit around either in their room or in their living room, with a bag of chocolate, some music or a movie in the background, and we have a lot of laughter and a lot of ranting! If we’re not doing that then we’re either out shopping, trying out makeup looks, going out to eat, or swimming!

7. If you had intro music, which song would it be? Why?

Shreya: It would be ‘perfect’. I just love this song to infinity. I would love to lie under a mistletoe and singing it out loud.
Noel: Probably Darth Vader’s theme from Star Wars because I’m just that awesome. 😂 Actually, if I were to be completely honest It’d probably either be Singing in the Rain, or Undying Love by Two Steps from Hell. They’re both really different, so I guess you guys can be the judges!
A bookshop with stacks and stacks of old books on the perimeter of the walls

8. Are you an organized person?

Shreya: No not at all! My mum really keeps on shouting on me 24/7 to keep my room clean but the reality is that I don’t love to live in a clean room( shh but don’t tell). I am organised in maintaining a study schedule and I am proud of being organised at mind at least.
Noel: Straight out no. Honestly, I like to keep my stuff in perfect chaos. I know where everything is, but it’s never put away. if you were to look at my room right now you’d probably stop looking at my advice.

9. Who is your closest friend and how did you meet them?

Shreya: I don’t like to be betrayed and is the only reason I don’t like making best friends. Well! I love to talk to everyone and initiate a conversation with an unknown because he knows nothing about me and I’m free to talk without the fear of any judgements. But I do have a best friend and is my shadow named ‘Shadow Shreya’ and it really exists.
Noel: Goodness gracious! I think my closest friend is my friend Evie. We met when I lived in California. She knows everything about me, and she knows if something’s wrong just by reading my text messages! I love her so much! We’re soul sisters. I have a lot of other really close friends too, and I hate feeling like I’m picking one person over another.

10. Which movie always makes you cry?

Shreya: Its one and only ‘Titanic’. I really paused the movie to cry be it any number of times.
i really love, Jack’s character very very very much there.
Thanks so much for reading and don’t forget to check out Shreya’s blog! Comment below what YOUR intro music would be!
Noel White: Definitely Fault in Our Stars. You already know how it’s going to end, yet you still break down in tears every time. Another really sad one is The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. I’m crying just thinking about it!
Thank you so much for reading, and don’t forget to comment below which intro music YOU would have.
Bye for now,
Noel and Shreya

9 Tips for Saving Money as a Teen

As most of you know, my resolution for 2018 is to practice saving more money for trips and college etc. Saving money has always been hard for me, but I’ve come up with 9 tips to make it oh so much easier!

Saving Money as a Teen

Create a Budget

Make sure that you know how much you have to spend and how much you need to save. Keeping track of your accounts is one of the most basic and easiest ways to save money.

Don’t Spend on Weekend Fun Every Time

I know, as a teen, that its easy to spend all of your money during the weekends. Maybe on Saturday you go to the movies and out to eat, and on Sunday you go shopping with friends, and all of a sudden all your money is gone by the time you get to Monday. There are plenty of free, fun, and exciting things to do.

Carpool As Much As Possible

If you’re old enough to drive a car, you might have figured out that spending money on gas can be expensive. Try to carpool with friends as much as possible and split the costs.

Buy Things Used

You might be surprised how much cheaper it is to buy things used. Shopping for a cool new outfit? Try the thrift store.

Figure Out What You Want to Do Before College

So many teens spend a fortune while going to college because they don’t know what they want to do and so they keep on spending a fortune on classes. Try to figure out what you want BEFORE you go to college. Think about what your interests are. If you’re not sure what you want to do, you can take a quick and easy free career test here.

Apply for Scholarships

Like I said before so many teens spend a fortune while going to college, but once you know what you want to do you can apply for scholarships that fall in that category. So many scholarships don’t even have people applying for them. I suggest using Scholarships.com They ask you what your interests are and then give you scholarships in that category!

Avoid Going to Malls

I don’t know about you, but what I’ve discovered in my many trips to the mall is that they are super expensive. We’re talking way expensive here. Yes, its the cool thing to do, but you might not be so cool anyways if you don’t have any money.

Know the Difference Between Wants and Needs

This one seems basic, but really, it isn’t. Do you really NEED that new outfit that everyone’s wearing or do you just want it? Do you NEED to go out to eat, or can you eat at home? There’s many different ways to look at wants and needs.

Try The Coke Bottle and Dimes Challenge

I’m very much in favor of this and am going to do it myself. Basically you take a coke bottle and fill it up with dimes, and when its completely full, you’ll have around $600 in dimes! I think it’s a great way to save up money!

Thanks so much for reading, and don’t forget to follow my blog, like this post, and comment below some tips YOU have for saving money!

Have fun!

Dear Future Self + Unselfie Challenge Winner!!!!

As I stated in my last post, one of the first items on my 2018 Bucket List is to write a letter my myself and open it in a year. So here it goes! Hope you guys enjoy reading it! BTW I used the source Future Me…if any of you are interested! They’ll send you an email of your letter in any amount of time you ask them to.

Dear Future Self,

It seems strange to be writing to someone who is me, but yet isn’t. You live a different life from mine, yet it will be somewhat the same. It seems strange to be writing to someone who will wish like me, yet be wishing for different things.

I hope that this past year has led you to having many new things: new adventures, new friends, and new laughter. I hope that you still love despite the number of times your heart has been broken. I hope that you’ve learned new things, with new people.

If I could give one piece of advice to you, from the person I am today, it would be stay true to yourself. Keep on being your crazy self. Keep believing in the small things. Keep wishing for bigger things.

I hope you remember what you’ve gone through to get to today, and where you are going to be in the future. I hope that as you read this letter you let go of your past regrets, doubts, and fears.

I know that as of this moment you are doing the best that you can, and I believe in you. You’re going to do great things someday. The biggest step you will ever take is to blindly trust in who you are.  The truth is that being beautiful means being yourself, loving yourself for who you are. Some people won’t understand that, but I do.

Lastly, I hope that you have learned that you can still be sweet and a good person and still say no.

From,

Past Self

Q&A With Erin From Kitty Jade

Hi everyone! I know that its Friday right now, and if you’re like me, you’re exhausted from a long week, or if you’re not like me you’re not excited to go back to school after a glorious winter break.

Two chairs at a small table with a laptop on it

Anyways, I have wanted to do a collaborative post with Erin from Kitty Jade for a while, and now it’s finally happened! Erin is so sweet and just a real person, and since we are both fairly new to the blogging community, we decided to do a Q&A post. I think a good way to think about is is like you’re sitting right across from us and listening to us talk to you in depth about ourselves, like friends.

A person typing on a netbook with plants, pencils, a smartphone and glasses on the desk table

– What inspired you to start your blog?

Erin: I have always written stories and sometimes a bit of journaling and I found that a blog would be a lovely way to spill my ideas and mix up both of my hobbies, photography and writing.

Noel: I’ve always wanted to blog, and I love taking photos and writing so it seemed like a good option. I really just want to inspire people to live a life worth living.

– What is your favorite genre of music?

Erin: I have a bit of a mix up! I love Pop music and a bit of rock ’n’ roll but I also love country music so I’m kind of stuck to answer this question!

Noel: I can’t choose!!! When I’m studying or doing school I usually listen to contemporary classical music, and when I’m working out i listen to modern pop and maybe some rock and roll… I really just like music that makes you feel something.

A MacBook, an iPad and an iPhone on a coffee table by a sofa

  • What inspires you to write on your blog?

Erin: My environment, the people and nature around inspire’s me, not only to write but to take great appreciation of everything around me and, like Noel, I know that it’s actually making an impact on other people.

Noel: I think that part of it is my amazing followers. I love watching the number ticking up, and thinking, like, “Wow. What I’m writing actually has an impact on people, and its making a difference”

Hands in the silhouette of a heart outline the setting sun on a beach

– If you could give one piece of advice to the whole world, what would it be?

Erin: Love and good beats hate any day. To see that so many people hate each other and want war is just horrific, even just a slight angry glance at someone in school or work is terrible.

Noel: Love. There’s so much going on in our world today and I think that humanity has kind of lost sight of what love really is. It’s not some emotion that makes you go all crazy, its a choice. And just because we don’t agree with people doesn’t mean that we don’t think that they’re an amazing person. We can love a person without agreeing with their life choices.

A woman showing off her apple watch and the amazing display on the watch screen

  • What do you want to be when you grow up?

Erin: My dream job would be an author/illustrator. I love creating art and drawing and painting. I also love writing and photography so a job like that would really suit my creative personality.

Noel: My dream job is a part time author, part time mom, and maybe teaching a little in between.

  • If you weren’t human, which animal would you be?

Erin: I’d probably be a dog. Loyal and energetic but sometimes lazy!

Noel: I don’t know… At first I was thinking a deer, but now I’m thinking I’d like to be either a bird or a dolphin. I really don’t know. 😂

A flatlay with a white notebook, keyboard, headphones and mouse on a pink surface

  • Which song are you listening to the most?

Erin: I think I’ve been listening to Ed Sheeran a lot and even some classic One Direction! The song I’ve been listening to the most though is “Confident” by Demi Lovato.

Noel: Again, I have to choose one? I’ve loved listening to Taylor Swift’s new album Reputation, but I guess I’ve also been listening to Hello by Adele on repeat.

  • What is one (new year’s) resolution you’ve never solved?

Erin: Self-confidence. You may not think it but in the real world I’m really shy and always compare myself to others. It’s very hard to get over this phase so I’d really like some tips!

Noel: Well I just wrote a post on New Year’s Resolutions! But I guess one of my New Year’s resolutions that has never been solved is the one where I’m way outgoing and courageous. I always let my fears control who I am, and especially this year I’ve been trying to change that.

A woman’s hand with a ring and a polished nail holding an iphone towards a laptop on a desk with a distant flash drive.

  • Are you always on your phone?

Erin: No, I’m always crafting and drawing although I go on my phone every to set alarms, keep on top of my email inbox and keep up to date in the blogging and social media.

Noel: I wouldn’t say always. I do have a lot of long distance friends that I try to keep in touch with, but I also try to live in the real world.

The silhouette of a hand and arm being raised against a purple and pink sky in a field

  • What is one bad habit of yours?

Erin: I guess the isn’t a bad habit but I do not have a great sense of style! At the moment I’m wearing a chunky knit jumper with black leggings. I know right?

Noel: And here, folks, is the serious question. Like I said before I really let my fear dictate my choices in life and I’m trying to change that, but also I sometimes let what I want to do get in front of my better judgement. Like recently I’ve gotten a serious shoulder injury during competitive swimming, and the reason why it is so serious is because I didn’t take care of it when it first started getting bad.

I hope you all enjoyed reading this post, and let me know if you too would like to do a guest post on my blog, or if you have some questions you would like me to answer!

Thanks so much for reading, and have a happy new year.

The Secret to Successful New Year’s Resolutions

Did you know that seven days after New Year’s Eve is when the most suicides are committed? The reason why is because it is when they realize that they have “failed” at their New Year’s resolutions and feel like there’s nothing to live for.

What I think one of the problems with this is, is the fact that we try to implement so many new things at once. It’s hard to keep track of the 12 New Year’s resolutions that you came up with all at once. This is why I think that the monthly new year’s plan is a good call. In this way, you add in one good thing every month, as opposed to adding them all in at once at the beginning of the year. That way you have a little bit of time to adjust to your new habits.

Now, depending on what your New Year’s resolutions are, you might not exactly follow my “plan” but if you feel like some of these ideas are things that you want to incorporate into your plan, then feel free to do it…my ideas in this post are free.

New Year's 2

As you’ve probably already gathered, I will be posting as my progress progresses….I don’t know if that was grammatically correct but I’m gonna roll with it. I really want to encourage you guys as you go on a journey to a better you and a better lifestyle.

After all, that is what my blog is truly about. I’ve been going through a stage lately where it’s hard for me to appreciate the small things in life. Sometimes, at least for me, it’s good to slow down for one night, and appreciate all the friends and family and laughter around you.

Happy New Year,

Noel White

P.S. Don’t forget to write down some of YOUR New Year’s resolutions below!!!

Merry Christmas

Hey y’all!

I wasn’t going to post this late, but somehow the day got away from me. I know most of you are done celebrating and, if you are like me, are cuddling up and drinking hot cocoa.

What I did this Christmas:

6:00 My siblings wake me up because I’ve “Been Sleeping too long” and drag me downstairs to open up stockings that have mysteriously been filled overnight by Santa (And yes, I do know Santa’s secret identity) After opening stockings we kind of just curl up in blankets for a while and procrastinate moving at all.

7:00 Eating cinnamon rolls for breakfast. These are the literal best, and yes, I am planning on posting the recipe soon. How could I not? My family’s secret ingredient: Apples. You MUST have apples on the bottom of your pan, because then they taste like apple pies!!!

8:00 We’re all stuffed with sweet sugary goodness so we head back over to the living room, and I start to pass out the presents from under the tree. Have I mentioned that I have 4 siblings?  We have such a mound of presents that we take a break at 10:00 and then come back for more. (my mom likes to watch us each open up each present.)

10:00 We take a break from presents and I go upstairs and curl up in my new electric blanket while my siblings play with their new toys

11:00 We head back to the tree and start opening the presents from the much much smaller pile. All my siblings LOVED their presents and I enjoyed laughing at all of mine. I got a lot of clothes, which I plan to do a post on at some point. They are all gorgeous and most of them are also hilarious…

12:00 We are all hungry again so we start eating some of our candy from our stockings and along with some leftovers from the Christmas Eve dinner.

1:00 My sisters got the Lego Friends Hospital set so I helped them build that and cried because of how long it took

3:00 Hot chocolate anyone?

4:00 Okay so now I’m exhausted but refuse to admit it. We FaceTime with some of the relatives and I cringe at how messy my hair is but make no move to fix it (Anyone else feeling me)

5:00 I go up to my room and lay on my bed for a while before coming back down to the table for some dinner. We eat leftovers from the night before, along with the yummy yummy pies

6:00 We are all stuffed and so sit on the couch and watch the best movie ever: Elf!!! This movie is the best Christmas movie ever. You can tell how much I love it by the fact that I am cringing every time Buddy the Elf does something incredibly supid

9:00 Work on my next post

10:00 Decide to write this post

10:13 Publish the AMAZING CHRISTMAS POST!!!

Merry Christmas,

Noel White

Free Christmas Gift Tags

If you’ve been reading my blog for more than three second, you will know that I love love love Christmas. I adore Christmas. I count down the days of the year until Christmas. And now it FINALLY here!!! EEEEK!

Christmas Gift Tags

My favorite part of Christmas is thinking of what I want to give who. I have so many amazing, wonderful, amazing, beautiful, inspiring people in my life. (Yes, the amazing had to be in there twice)

Arrow Tag

By December I have either bought all my presents, or I have everything planned out. This year, I bought my family gifts from Budapest, which you can read about in my 12 Days in Budapest post. I got them the most amazing gifts, and I couldn’t have chosen better.

Diamond Tag

That being said, I am a horrible horrible gift wrapper. Horrible. I don’t know how to wrap presents. It’s the sad cold truth. Most of the time they end up looking less than beautiful. Maybe less than less than beautiful. Anyways, I came up with this brilliant idea that if I put everything in those treat bags that kids get at birthday parties, tie them with ribbon, and add a pretty gift tag, the receiver won’t care because they received a gift that was perfect for them, and that’s just beautiful.

Oval Tag

So I made a six beautiful FREE gift tags that are just simply amazing. All you have to do is copy my screenshot of the gift tags, print them out on cardstock, punch a hole, and tie them on your gift. (Yes, sadly I cannot tie the gift tag to your gift from behind the computer screen. Not that you’d want me to anyways.

Thanks so much for checking out this small and insignificant post, and come back soon for more Christmas posts!

The Yummiest Hot Chocolate Recipe Ever

Okay, so lets be honest here. My FAVORITE part of wintertime, is drinking hot chocolate. I love hot chocolate so much. And also hot cocoa. Let’s not forget that they are different things. How? You might ask… well hot chocolate is made with milk, and hot cocoa is made with water. It actually kind of makes sense. Either way my sister Debbie and I made this recipe for the YUMMIEST HOT CHOCOLATE EVER!!!! (Like my use of exclamation points?)

Makes 4

What You Need:

2 Cups of Chocolate Chips

4 Cups of Milk

1 Can of Whipped Cream

Directions:
Add chocolate chips and milk to a pan over medium heat, stirring constantly.

IMG_1370

As soon as all the chocolate has melted, remove from the heat, and pour into mugs, then top off with whipped cream.

IMG_1372

Ta da! It was so easy and simple!

Have fun and happy cooking,

Noel White
